The Flynn Law Office (“FLO”) has openings from time to time for highly motivated law students or paralegal student intern/ extern applicants who are passionate about social justice and human rights. Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish essential. Individuals who are not in a legal study program, but who have similar experience and interest are encouraged to apply. The position is part time, with the opportunity to expand to full time
FLO is a public interest and civil rights law firm, litigating cases at all levels, from trial to appeal, handling a challenging and demanding caseload of plaintiff-side employment litigation (wage and hour, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, etc.). FLO also handles immigration cases, including removal defense, family unity, and asylum and refugee law. Another significant portion of FLO’s caseload includes police misconduct, prison conditions, and other civil rights work. Many or most clients are Spanish speaking. Experience in employment law, immigration law, criminal defense, housing law, and/or police misconduct & civil rights is a strong plus, but not absolutely necessary.
The intern/ extern, law clerk, or legal assistant will have opportunities to learn and work on all aspects of cases the FLO handles, from intake, legal research and investigation, preparing and filing complaints, discovery, depositions, trial, resolution, and appeal. FLO pays a living wage based on experience and need. The availability of public interest grants, work study, externship credit or other means of funding or structuring the internship or work experience will be considered.

The Flynn Law Office (“FLO”) seeks highly motivated law student or paralegal student intern/ extern applicants who are passionate about supporting people inside prisons, detention centers, and jails who contact FLO about potential human & civil rights violations. FLO needs assistance to respond to a high volume of mail from prions and jail. FLO intends to provide resources and support to people inside, as part of longer term support for movements to dismantle the prison system as it is (prison abolition).
Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish very helpful, as we have some individuals write letters in Spanish. Individuals who are not in a legal study program, but who have similar experience and interest are encouraged to apply. The position is part time, unpaid, with opportunities to grow and learn together with FLO coworkers. The availability of public interest grants, work study, externship credit or other means of funding or structuring the internship or work experience will be considered.
